A Few Differences Between Male and Female Liposuction
There are some significant differences between liposuction for a male patient versus a female patient. Many people still associate cosmetic surgery procedures like liposuction with women. But recently there has been a surge in the number of men who are walking into clinics and requesting liposuction surgery to remove pockets of unwanted body fat. This may be a sign of vanity to some traditional schools of thought but it is the way our society is trending. Still there are major differences due to the biological nature of a male versus female body.
Men in general tend to request liposuction in very predictable areas of the body. These areas focus on parts of the body where fat is difficult to lose through exercise and dieting. Usually these are the facial regions, abdomen, chest or back. In parts of the body like the arms and legs where it is easy for a man to build muscle, the mass of the muscle is enough to provide the sculpted feature they want in those areas. You will probably never see a man request arm liposuction or thigh liposuction since these are not areas of concern.
Liposuction for the chest is often as a treatment for gynecomastia which is a condition that causes the male breasts to be enlarged. It can be glandular growth or simply the accumulation of excessive fat tissue. If it is glandular growth then some hormonal medication might be prescribe but liposuction is very effective in the case of fat accumulation. Any doctor of even your plastic surgeon should be able to make the diagnosis.
The cost for male liposuction will often be higher to a comparable procedure on a female body. That is because men in general are larger and thus the treatment area is larger in size. Also, the fat cells of a male body tend to be much more fibrous than a female. This makes it more difficult to eliminate fat from a male liposuction patient.
