Kinect’s Workout Games

Microsoft is changing the face of video games with their new accessory for the Xbox 360 called Kinect.  Kinect will allow you to be able to control video games using only your body.  You no longer will be tied to motion remotes and you won’t be tied down to a balance board type device.  Nope, the Kinect camera will be able to see all of your full body movements as well as recognize your voice.  This is definitely going to cause a shift in the way some video games will be played.  One genre that will become popular is Kinect workout games.  One of the great benefits of a system like Kinect is that you’ll be able to get real time feedback on how you are working out, so if you are doing it right then you’ll know and if you’re doing it wrong, you’ll be able to know and make instant changes so that your workouts are effective.

One game that will be pretty popular will be The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout.  Because of the popularity of the hit television show, this Kinect fitness game will definitely be pretty popular.  You’ll be able to get good training advice and feedback from Bob and Jillian themselves (or at least the video game versions of them).  You’ll also be able to mix up your exercise routines by throwing in some fun challenges, much like the challenges as seen on the television show.

Another popular game will be EA Sports Active 2.0  This game, the sequel to the hit game that utilized the Wii Fit, will allow you to get a true, controller-free workout.  You’ll be able to follow a training regimen on screen that is suited to your fitness goals and body type.  You’ll also be able to use your own workout equipment.  The game also comes with a wireless heart rate monitor so you know just how intense your workouts are.

While these are just 2 of the games that will be coming out, you can definitely bet that more Kinect workout games will be coming out in the near future.

The Cool New Afterglow Remotes for Wii

One of the newest Wii accessories that you can buy are the Wii afterglow remotes. These come in both the traditional remote as well as the nunchuks and are manufactured by a company called PDP or Performance Designed Products. They were released for sale on April 25, 2010 and have become a pretty popular product in a very short period of time. We’re going to take a look at some of the features that these new remotes have as well as some of the different colors that they come in.

The first thing that you may notice about these new remotes is how they look. They have a clear body that allows you to see all of the electronics on the inside of the device. They also have buttons located in different places from the original Wii remote and they have lights that help the remote to glow-in-the-dark. As far as the layout of the buttons there are some that are in different locations and some that are slightly altered for more comfortable use. The home button is located on the top right of the device close to the power button. This is typically located more in the center of the product and some people do not like were it has been moved to. The A and B buttons have been adjusted slightly and have more of a staggered appearance rather than straight up and down. This makes for more comfortable gaming when using the remote in standard mode.

The afterglow remotes come in three different colors. This includes blue, green, and red. They have different areas that can light up and if you turn all of the lights on you will be able to see the remote in the dark very easily. The colors are more of neon colors which adds a cool look to these products.

The majority of the reviews for the remote are good, but there are some negative reviews for the nunchuks. Some people have reported them sticking which would be a manufacturing defect which would make the device difficult to use. Many people are recommending that the remotes are okay to buy, but the nunchuks would probably be good to stay away from for now.

You now should have some good information about the Wii afterglow remotes to help give you an idea what they are and what they do. One of the best things is that they are about $10 cheaper than the official Wii brand products so if you’re looking for a remote and want to save some money then these could be a good way to go.
