Adding an accent to your room is fairly simple.  It all depends on the style of  the room that you want to achieve.  Painting the room will only get you so far.  You could add in a lot of furniture, however it could crowd a room and make you feel overwhelmed, not to mention how much money you would have to spend on it.  Two great choices on accents you might want to consider are a large area rug or possibly a floor mirror.

Large area rugs are great for just about every room in the house.  They look especially well in the living room, the hallway, or even right in front of the door.  Large area rugs can be found in many major dealers such as Wal-mart, Carol House, and Home Depot.  These rugs can also be found in just about any material from cotton to wool, from shag to silk, and even yarn.  Depending on the size, quality, material, brand, and even store that you are buying the rug from, the price may vary from cheap to very expensive, especially if the type of rug you are looking for is an oriental rug.

Floor mirrors are a great functional decorative accent.  While it is decorative it is especially useful for checking yourself before you leave the house in the morning.  Mirrors are great accents, especially for the bedroom because they do not take up too much space yet are striking and noticeable when you walk into the room.  You can purchase floor mirrors at just about any major dealer of furniture and room accents.  One of the best things about floor mirrors is that the frame of the mirror can match a room’s intended design scheme.  Wooden frames are great for a traditional style while a metal frame is perfect for a modern or contemporary style home.
