Facts About Hair Restoration Treatments

Perhaps you are feeling frustrated right now because you are losing your hair and you don’t know how to stop it. A lot of people are feeling the same way you are feeling including me. I tried to look for answers and even searched online and I found out that there are so many kinds of available remedies for hair loss. Initially, I thought these would cure my hair fall and re-grow the hair on my bald spot but I realized they really can’t. When you see remedies like spreading on your scalp the grease from Emu birds or letting a light bulb shine on your bald spot for about 20 minutes per day, I bet you also begin to doubt what’s real and what’s fake among these remedies.

Here’s a hard and real fact about men. There is a 95% chance that a man with balding problems has a condition called male pattern baldness. It is actually a genetic condition with the scientific name Androgenic Alopecia where the hair follicles in particular areas of the scalp cannot produce keratin anymore. Keratin is the material used for hair shaft production. As a result, the hair shaft becomes gradually very thin until it is so weak that it is incapable of supporting itself and finally breaks off. This is the point when the hair roots are disabled from further hair production and then you have a bald spot.

The process cause by Androgenic Alopecia can be slowed down significantly with the help of certain drugs like Finasteride and Minoxidil which are both approved by US Food and Drug Administration to treat hair loss. These are not like the wonder drugs you see on internet ads but they are really effective at slowing down your hair loss and even reviving some of your hair follicles which have just become dormant. However, using Finasteride should be with precaution since it can cause serious birth defects in women who accidentally or intentionally ingested it.

If you have totally lost your hair and you have a bald spot, hair implantation is the only answer as the hair restoration treatment that can give you positive outcome. A hair restoration surgeon is going to transplant your own hairs from a donor area of your scalp where there is still growing hair.  This is usually the back area. These hairs are implanted into the scalp’s skin where there is bald spot. The implanted hair follicles can grow normally for the coming years where you used to have a shiny bald spot.
