Chaise Lounge Cushions For Less

There are just a few things you can do if you want chaise lounge cushions or any outdoor furniture cushions at a low price. You can either go onto an online auction site such as eBay or see what Amazon has to offer or you could be really adventurous and make your own! Here is a brief step-by-step guide on how to make your own outdoor patio cushions.

1. Measure the width and length of the surface area of the chaise lounge. You want the cushion to cover the surface, not drape over it.

2. Decide how thick the cushion is to be. Obviously the more sturdy the furniture is the thicker the fabric can be.

3. Purchase the foam or polyester fiber filling material that will go inside the cushion, making sure that you have a single piece large enough for the whole chair. You might want to buy a water-resistant covering to go over the filling depending on how much the cushion will be exposed to the elements.

4. Purchase a zip fastener for your fabric that equates to the length of the cushion.

5. Sew your pieces of fabric together in the same manner in which you would sew a pillow or quilt, inside out, sewing the zipper onto one of the longest sides of the cushion. If the cushion is thick however use a box construction sewing the zipper along the middle of one long side.

6. Flip the cushion right side out so that it is now an empty case and stuff it with the foam insert then zip it up. The cushion should now be ready to sit on. You might need to adjust the filling slightly to make sure it fits the corners.

Making your own outdoor patio chair cushions is so easy, particularly if you have experience with sewing. If you want to save money then this is definitely the option to go for. It doesn’t take too long and on top of the advantages of cost you can also add the ability to be more creative. When you purchase the fabric it is like a blank slate. You can choose any pattern you want to liven it up or just leave the fabric plain. The choice is yours.
