Applying Eye Makeup: Tips for Natural Results

Learning how to apply makeup correctly can provide gorgeous results with minimal time and effort.  Learning some essential applying makeup tips can help create a radiant face with little effort.

It is important to remember that a light touch with the makeup will result in a much more natural and fresh look.  This is especially important as a woman ages.  Too much makeup will actual accentuate and make wrinkles appear more pronounced. The following are some more eye makeup tips for maximum beauty while still looking natural.

  • Choose colors that are right for your particular skin tone to achieve a natural look.  A good way to start is by simply visiting the makeup section of your favorite major department store.  Most of these large retailers will have cosmetic counters from a number of different makeup manufacturers and they will be more than happy to give you a complimentary make over.  This is the best way to learn about various products and which colors work best for you. They may be able to apply false eyelashes or eyelash extensions to show you how dramatic an impact one small change can have on your appearance.
  • The first thing that is necessary in every makeup routine is to start with a clean dry face.  Then begin by applying a concealer which is a shade lighter than the foundation you will be using.  The concealer should have a yellowish tone to help hide imperfections.  Simply dot the concealer on any under-eye circles or blemishes and blend in with a makeup sponge or your fingertips.  Follow this with a foundation that matches your skin tone and finish your face with a light dusting of powder.  Powder is available in either pressed or loose form and will help to keep your makeup looking fresh throughout the day.
  • To really add a dramatic touch, you can easily create dramatic eyes in a matter of minutes.  The secret is to use an eye base on the eye lid prior to applying shadow.  By properly priming the lid, you can avoid having your eye shadow end up looking like a greasy line in the crease of your eye lid.  Most makeup artists agree that a three toned eye shadow should be used, start with a light color and cover the lid all the way up to the brow bone.  Next apply the medium color on the lid and apply the darker color only in the crease, then gently blend the three colors.  For some nationalities, the color on the eyelids should be applied differently – for example, some Asian makeup tips are to shade from left to right, not from lash line to brow bone, with three eye shadow colors.

That is all there is to a fast, natural and beautiful makeup application.  For extra pizzazz, add a touch of color on your lips or cheeks and you are ready for any event or occasion.
