The Healthiest Relaxation Technique
Stress is something most people live with daily. Stress can cause our immune systems to break down and open us up to illness. It can also wreak havoc on our mental state. Stress is one of the leading causes of mental breakdowns or “mid-life crisis” and depression. With so many factors in an average person’s life that can cause stress how do we learn to deal with it constructively and not let it ruin us? The answer may lie in relaxation techniques.
Learning to relax in such a high stress world may save your life one day. There are many relaxation techniques that some have found to work best for them. Since we are all unique not all techniques will work for everyone but there is one method in particular that will work because it relies on the physical makeup of the human body; taking deep breaths.
When we take three to five deep breaths in a row we inject our bodies with an abundance of oxygen. This new supply then spreads throughout our body infusing our system with a burst of fuel and allowing all our parts to function more efficiently. Oxygen feeds the brain and the more we can give it the more clearly and focused we can be.
Among the ability to also relax our muscles and calm our emotions by re-centering ourselves taking deep breaths can also be extremely healthy. Our bodies have a natural level of acid in them and when this level gets to high then it becomes an ideal spot for disease spreading organisms to thrive. By giving our body an oxygen booster shot we can maintain lower acidic levels in our body. This will effectively remove the organism’s environment and kill them.
There are many techniques that we can use for relaxation such as by getting a massage, enjoying a glass of wine or taking a nature walk but none have as many health benefits as simply taking deep breaths does. When you are feeling stressed and mentally scattered try taking a few deep breaths in a row and see how it affects your mood and mental state.
